Seattle's Firecracker5000: The followup!

Firecracker 5000 Seattle WA Fourth of July

Seattle's annual Fourth of July Firecracker 5000 was a supremely delightful run, with slightly over 700 particpants showing up to strut their stuff in the late wee hours.

About one mile in, as the course curved back around toward the stadium, my twin sister explained with glee, "We're almost there!!!"  She became less than exicted when I shared we had only run about one mile and that in fact the course would snake around Belltown for another two miles before heading back for the final dash.

Congratulations, Anne!!! She is now training for her first full marathon this fall!

Sara,  Looks like fun!  I have never seen any nighttime races around here.  Keep up the running and maybe we'll wind up at the same event someday.

Good post Sara --- nice you have your sister to run with now! Where is she running her first marathon and when. Maybe we can share horror (I mean accomplishment) stories---

Hi Dan! No nighttime races? That's unfortunate, you have got to do one soon, and especially under the stars!!!! We could plan to end up in the same race.... what fun?

Patricia, yes, "Horror" stories!!!! LOL Isn't that the truth!!!?! Runners are a weird bunch. Let's see, its hurts, OUCH!!! then---let's run some more. ;)

Sara... Agree we could plan ahead and I'm sure our paths will come together at some point.  Planned to connect with Tracy at the NYC marathon coming in November but neither of us got selected in their lottery system.  After the third attempt we get a guaranteed entry so I'll be running that in 2010 if I don't make it in next year.  Patricia is doing Miami in January,  not sure if that is still open but after running in Fort Myers next week I'll decide if the Florida heat is to much for me. I'd suggest we do Boston but my pace is a few  hours to slow to qualify.

Sara, Thanks for sharing your run with your twin sister. Way to go on creating you own running partner as well.  Mike
