On midnight of January 31st, an amazing thunderstorm broke loose in Laguna Beach. It had already been raining that day, but now it was raining cats and dogs.
I was driving home from spending the evening at a girl friends, when, as I neared the high school, all the power went out. (Or was it out already? I don't remember). Power had gone out in my area, the Top of the World, at noon that day.
It was phenomenal. As I was driving, all was dark except for what fell across the path of my headlights. Flashes of white rippled across the sky and echoed their light upwards into the clouds, like the effect of a softbox. And then, in a moment, the lights simultaneously flickered on and off again in people's homes, the streetlights, and at the school. The Laguna Village and the hills above it, perched with homes, appeared for that moment like the storybook town in the "Grinch who stole Christmas". I held my breathe. Mmmmm…… Except without a Grinch.

How erie and magical! I love the thunderstorm/lightning storms we get here in the summers in Colorado. Typically they only last an hour or two though.
I remember having to drive without my headlights during a snowstorm in the dark once because it was the only way I could see. I was holding my breath for sure ;) but it sure was beautiful
Hi Jessica,
Wow!!! Nothing like snow storms... heeheh must have been fun!
Sharon, yes it is... envigorating! And the air is always fresher, although there hardly sems to be a bad day here regarding air quaility. The first signs of spring are popping up, and the air is succulent sweet. I am certain my husband misses out, for not being the one to walk our lovely dog every night. ;)
Florida is one of the few states I have never travelled to, although we've talked about it. Where should we go when we visit your state? Any places overrated, and any underrated?
Bob, I understand your plight, in the land where reading the book I've sent you fares better odds than tanning outdoors. heehee I would be watching the mail also.
