"God's Biggest Leaf" and Somerset's Friendly Five Foot Spider

God's Biggest Leaf

I'd call this "God's Biggest Leaf", but am wary of stealing the title from some enormous six foot leafed flower in Australia. None the less, here it is! I've never seen one so big! (Evidently, I'm not the only one enamored with giants leaves. Yesterday I drove past a lady collecting these massive leaves while walking her dog.)

And another humongous pleasantry:

Mr. SpiderHalloween comes and goes, but this spider is planning on sticking around all year! So far as I know, this Somerset Homeowners Association hasn't yet requested Mr. Spider's hibernation. (I'll let you know how long he sticks around...)

WOW, what a leaf, you're so tiny beside it. LOL. Maybe Mr. Spider can crawl up the Christmas Decorations. Sorry, I won't get to meet you in Vegas. Sounds like a blast.

Hi Missy! Actually, I had an even larger leaf, which I found the night before. But when I brought in inside, overnight the edges curled, and it browned a bit, so it wasn't very good for a pic. I was happy to find this one in the nick of "picture" time.

We have about a GAZILLION of those honkin' big ones laying all around our yard right now. Fortunately, I have two strappin' young boys to assist me in raking!... Maybe you could put a red nose on the spider and let him stand in for Rudolph?...."Charlotte, the Red-Nosed Spider".....

That's a pretty cool AND colorful leaf, Sara! Today we got the first of our below 60 degree temperature - when I woke up this morning it was 59 degrees. We're a long way behind Seattle.

I'm not sure if it was the rain or the lack of excess bugs in the North West, but it seemso ur friendly spider has migrated elsewhere...

Sharon, 59 degrees!!! Horrible weather, I don't know how you can stand it!

Rich, I think as "Rudolph" he would scare off all the kids, and quite of few would be crying...

Hi Ginger!

I think it's a Maple leaf... I found it while strolling Simon, my German Shepherd, but Maple trees are native to the northwest, so they're everywhere, in everyone's yards, as well as spruce, sitka, etc. I have on in my backyard, but if you look for them, all of a sudden, they're everywhere!!

I've got some spiders that big on my deck.... lol.

Monstera leaves are huge.. but they are a vine.

Hi Georgina!

In that case, I think our spiders have something in common. Drawn to friendly people? ;)

I wouldn't mind gigantic spiders if it meant living in Hawaii. I suppose you're not jealous of our most recent snow/ice spell.... let's just say that the snow is still on the lawn, heheh.

Sara - I can put up with the spiders too.  It seems all our rainy weather went on to hit you guys.  The good news is, we're getting some sunshine now, and the winds have died off.
