This Friday, August 10th, at 10:00 am, the Washington State Department of Transportation is commencing major construction work on northbound I-5 from S Spokane Street to the I-90 interchange, the area directly south of downtown Seattle. All northbound lanes except for one will be closed. Carpooling is strongly encouraged to ease congestion during this time, as well as detours. Completion is estimated for August 29th later this month.
Northbound I-5 between between Spokane and I-90 is comprised of an elevated bridge over 40 years old. Work to be done includes repaving the lanes and replacing expansion joints which currently pose a risk to drivers.

Debi,
Some good can come of this!
When I get up there at the end of the month, let's join a Carpool group to Seattle and blog about it. ;) ;)
Sara - thanks for posting this. I like what Kim said.....we need the "Jetsen's jet pack". :)
Kim,
Was is Elroy Jetsen who had the jet pack? (Or did they all have access to it...?) I vividly remember those flying saucer type cars...
Melissa,
Evidently, Kim already owns a jet pack. By this time, though, I imagine the stores are back-ordered... However, the horizon looks great! Yours should arrive just in time for the rainy season. :)
Hi Debi!
I made it alright! Glad that the construction was done early, too! We are all much safer and sound (and happier about freed-up traffic!)
